Cubanate

I started my work with Cubanate back in 1998, while working for Chicago’s H-Gun Labs. After reconnecting with them in 2015, I created the live visuals for their triumphant return at 2016’s Cold Waves Festival at Chicago’s Metro. I stayed on board creating more visuals to accompany their 2017 US tour with Front Line Assembly and Revolting Cocks, Canadian Terminus Festival, Wave Gothik Treffen and subsequent UK shows. I also made videos for singer Marc Heal’s “Adult Fiction”, and guitarist Phil Barry’s Word Made Flesh, and Cubanate’s “Kolossus” (2019).

Cubanate - Kolossus

Kolossus was taken from the EP of the same name, the first release since 1998’s Interference album on the legendary WaxTrax! label. It was a much heralded and anticipated release, which gained universal applause from the industrial community.

The video features dance artist Leah Debrincat.

Released by Armalyte Industries, June 2019

Cubanate - Oxyacetylene

In 2016, I had the opportunity to work again with Cubanate, creating a 45 minute video set to be used at their hugely anticipated performance at the WaxTrax! inspired Cold Waves V festival in Chicago, on September 24th of that year. The concert was a huge success and reported on extensively in many magazines and podcasts.

This video incorporates live footage of the show with the projection material created for the track “Oxyacetylene”. It was also used to promote their live album “Brutalism” (Armalyte Industries, 2017)

Featuring Ilua Hauck da Silva.

Cubanate - Live visual reel

Twelve extracts of visuals built and deployed for live engagement, 2016-2019.

I first started creating live visuals for Cubanate in 2016, to accompany their show at Chicago’s Cold Waves V. Those projections continue to evolve and to be the backdrop for their performances, including their US tour with Front Line Assembly and Revolting Cocks (2017), Terminus Festival (Canada 2017), Infest (UK), Wave Gothik Treffen (Leipzig 2019), and UK shows.
